GDI Delivers the “Silver Sneakers” of Southwest Atlanta A Morning of Pampering
“Silver Sneaker” is a 3-year old government program administered through major health care providers, like United Healthcare, to senior citizens for their Health and Wellness fitness regiments. This program offers them the opportunity to work out in gyms across the nation at no cost to them. The Silver Sneakers Health and Wellness program is taught by certified aerobic instructors who have been specifically trained to teach classes to their age group (65 years and older). The Silver Sneakers program provides all the equipment to the local health centers, including cushioned chairs, free weights, and stretch bands, designed just for the seniors. They encourage members to proactively take care of themselves and they can attend aerobic classes or work out on the facility equipment with the assistance of the center trainers.
Food was also provided by GDI and the seniors had a truly great morning of pampering. This was an awesome outing and “Yes!” GDI will go back one day real soon!
